The Wall Street Journal called him “The Rembrandt of Balloons.” With his large scale installations, it’s easy to see why. Mr. Fudge and his crew specialize in creating one of a kind masterpieces of living art.
Each individual balloon is made from latex, a natural product made from tree sap. As soon as the balloon figure is built, it will begin to change and transform as the latex changes properties. Over a period of about 2 days, it will shrink about 25%. After a week, it will be at about 50%. And after a month, the figure will look much different. This constant changing is a testament to the living qualities of the balloon and allows for a multitude of interpretations of the art.
Mr. Fudge and his team have worked on a number of projects, including a life-size recreation of Mallory Square in Key West complete with Palm Trees, a Hemmingway, and Beautiful parrots and 6-toed cats. They’ve also created a 20 foot long recreation of a Beatle’s Yellow Submarine, Fashion Shows and dresses made completely out of balloons, and even Giant Logos for companies interested in promoting themselves at events.
